On Friday, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, demanded that his opponents in the Sudanese army command step down in order to allow an opportunity to end the fighting that has been going on for three months.
In a five-minute video posted on Twitter, Daglo is believed to be his first since the outbreak of fighting with the army on April 15, to the Sudanese soldiers, saying that peace can be achieved "within 72 hours" if they hand over their commander, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his aides.
Daglo, who appeared in the video clip in his military uniform, among RSF fighters chanting slogans, stressed that he is a advocate of peace and not war, offering his apology to the Sudanese people "for the tragedy left by this war that was imposed on us."
But the fighting did not subside on Friday, as residents reported new air strikes. Eyewitnesses also mentioned that explosions occurred inside the Yarmouk Military Industries Complex.
The ongoing war, without any prospect of a solution, has killed at least 3,900 people so far, according to the non-governmental organization ACLIAD, knowing that medical sources confirm that the actual toll is much higher.
