Official report: "Israel" has killed 3 thousand Palestinian children since 2000

An official report documented the martyrdom of 3,000 Palestinian children, shot by the Israeli occupation forces, from the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Intifada (28 September 2000) to the end of the previous month (October 2019).

This came in a statistical report published by the Department of Child Information in the Ministry of Information, on Thursday, on the eve of International Children´s Day, which is celebrated by the United Nations on November 20 of each year, and the date of the signing of 192 countries to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.


Martyrs and detained children

The Ministry of Information said in its report, `` Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Intifada until the end of October 2019, more than 3,000 children were killed, tens of thousands of children were injured, and the occupation forces arrested more than 16 thousand children. ´´

She pointed out that there are still 200 Palestinian children in the Israeli jails, pointing out that the occupation forces have arrested since the beginning of this year, 745 children under the age of 18 years.

The report confirmed that 95 percent of them were tortured and assaulted during their detention, "which takes place after midnight, where the Israeli soldiers blindfolded and tied their hands, before extracting confessions from them coerced in the absence of lawyers or family members during interrogation."

According to the report, the Israeli occupation arrests about 700 Palestinian children from various Palestinian areas annually, noting that since the beginning of October 2015 and until the beginning of November 2016 about 2000 children allegedly throwing stones at the occupation forces and settlers.

Schoolchildren are also subjected to numerous Israeli violations at military checkpoints at the entrances to cities, villages and camps, according to the report.


Child labor

The report pointed to the problems faced by Palestinian children as well as widespread poverty, due to the deteriorating economic situation, and the ongoing siege, especially in the Gaza Strip, which forced many of them to leave their schools and go to the labor market.

According to a 2013 report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the percentage of Palestinian children entering the labor market in the age group (10-17 years) was 4.1%.

The latest report issued by the Ministry of Labor that there are 102 thousand Palestinian children under the age of 18 years in the labor market, while the number in 2011 about 65 thousand children.


Children of occupied Jerusalem

According to the same report, 85% of Palestinian children live in the occupied city of Jerusalem, below the poverty line, while the education sector suffers from a shortage of classrooms estimated at 1,000 classrooms, in addition to the dropout rate due to the occupation policies aimed at the displacement of Jerusalemites. Maternity and childhood centers, where there are only four centers compared to the western part of the occupied city, which has 25 centers caring for children.
