The Palestinian Center for Media Freedoms " MADA " monitored today, Tuesday, an increase in the total number of violations against media freedoms in Palestine during the month of October, which amounted to 81 attacks, compared to a total of 57 documented. during the preceding September.


The PCHR´s confirmed that the total increase in violations came as a result of a noticeable increase in the number of Israeli violations, which jumped by 26 points from the previous month, which was accompanied by a decrease in the number of Palestinian violations, as only 5 committed violations by Palestinian parties were documented.


He added, "During the past month, a total of 9 violations committed by Facebook were documented, including closing and blocking pages of news websites, and others of others, after a statement made by the Israeli Prime Minister, in which he vowed to pursue the "terrorist" pages.


The Center indicated that other parties committed one violation, represented by the New York Times´ dismissal of its photojournalist in the Gaza Strip as a result of an Israeli writer´s incitement against him

The center said: "The number of Israeli attacks rose during the month of October to occupy the largest number, reaching 66 violations, compared to 40 violations during the previous month, and the percentage of Israeli violations reached 82% of the total number of violations committed during the month."


He added: "Many of these were complex, as more than one incident was documented, directed targeting of targets or their cars, and preventing them from covering, as happened in particular in Jibya village in Ramallah governorate during media coverage of the olive season ."


The center continued: "There has been no noticeable change in the nature of the Israeli attacks, as some of them were among the serious attacks on the lives of freedom and freedom of the press, the most prominent of which was the documentation of 16 physical attacks, including being hit by rubber bullets or suffocation with the smell of gas."


 Mada also documented 30 violations against targets by preventing them from covering events, whether in the West Bank or in Jerusalem, while the occupation targeted 8 to prevent them from covering. Which put their lives in real danger.


On the other hand, he added: "On the other hand, four charges were arrested in various activities, as the mobile phone of one of them was broken and returned smashed, in addition to damaging the wheel of his car, and the occupation forces raided a journalist´s house in search of surveillance camera recordings located at the entrances to the house." 


The Center monitored a hacking operation committed by an Israeli entity against the "Ma´an" network, as it tried to penetrate broadcast screens and put symbols and slogans representing the Israeli occupation.

The center said: "In addition to the Israeli violations, Facebook closed and restricted during the month of October 9 news pages, and pages belonging to Palestinian clients working as managers on the news pages, and the number of violations related to social media increased during the month of October to 9, at 11% of the total violations month compared to 5 violations documented last
