A spokesman for UNRWA, Sami Musha´sha, announced an international donor conference to be held in September to discuss the agency´s financial crisis.
In an interview with the official Voice of Palestine radio, Meshaa said Thursday that the agency needs one billion and two hundred million dollars to provide its full services, which requires great efforts to overcome this crisis.
He stressed that the coming weeks and months will be very difficult in terms of the political file of the refugee issue and the future of the Agency, which will be renewed in September for the next three years, noting that a number of donor countries, especially the United States of America questioned the legitimacy of the Agency and its continuation.
He added that the Agency is in the process of employing 23 million dollars for the re-maintenance of 268 schools and clinic and its subsidiary, and re-employed 500 employees part-time to full, and 400 cleaners during the month of Ramadan.
