The Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, represented by its Chairman, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi, signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations represented by Mr. Tor Wencesland, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, today, Thursday.
Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi confirmed that the memorandum of understanding includes the mechanism for distributing the cash aid grant provided by the State of Qatar to needy families in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Emadi explained that the cash assistance will be disbursed to the beneficiaries through the United Nations and its World Food Programme, where about 100,000 needy families in the governorates of the Gaza Strip will receive this aid per month, at a cost of $100 per family in cash.
His Excellency indicated that the Qatari committee will transfer the aid funds before the end of August, and that its distribution will start during the month of September.
