The competent government authorities in the Gaza Strip announced this evening, Thursday, a series of new measures to confront the spread of the Corona virus, in light of the recording of a large number of infections in recent days.
Iyad Al-Bazam, spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior in Gaza, said during a conference of the Governmental Information and Information Center that it was decided to completely close wedding halls, in addition to closing the weekly popular markets in all governorates.
He pointed out that it was decided to prevent the movement of vehicles of all kinds in all governorates on Friday and Saturday, and to tighten the decision to prevent the establishment of funeral homes and wedding parties in public streets, or inside homes, in addition to tightening the procedures for daily night closures at nine o´clock in the evening, and strict measures against violators.
And he indicated that next Tuesday, new measures will be taken, including the possibility of completely imposing the closure.
He stressed that the pace of field follow-up will be raised, supervision over adherence to preventive measures will be tightened in all service facilities and sectors, legal measures will be taken against violators, and violating facilities will be closed.
For his part, Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, said that the ministry and the relevant authorities made strenuous efforts in the previous period in order to discourage the epidemic and overcome the first wave, indicating that after the first wave, the infection curve decreased until all areas were classified as green after it was less. Of 50 injuries.
Al-Qidrah indicated that the Ministry has been following up with its specialized committees monitoring the developments of the epidemiological situation locally and internationally and its effects on the Gaza Strip, noting that the past weeks have witnessed a dangerous and accelerating development of the epidemic curve.
"The competent committees at the Ministry of Health followed with concern the seriousness and acceleration of the rise in the injuries curve from 154 injuries on the first of March to 1081 injuries on the first day of April, meaning that the increase was from 9% to 29% of daily examinations," he said.
"The Ministry of Health recorded a noticeable and dangerous increase in hospital admissions from 56 cases on the first of March to 203 cases on the first of April, as well as severe and critical cases, which increased from 33 cases to 124 cases today," he added.
He pointed out that the Gaza Strip recorded 69 deaths, of which 8 were less than 50 years old.
The Gaza health spokesman indicated that the past days witnessed the emergence of outbreaks of outbreaks, and began to expand as a result of lax adherence to health controls by citizens and institutions and the emergence of the new boom in society.
"The lack of compliance with health regulations in social events, such as weddings, mourning homes, gatherings, popular markets and various sectors allowed the epidemiological curve to rise and the infection rate in society increased," he said.
He expected that the coming period will witness more daily injuries, as well as hospital admissions in the coming days, indicating that the developments of the epidemiological situation will be constantly monitored and the medical efforts required at the level of human staff and various medical equipment.
He appealed to citizens to deal with the highest degree of responsibility and concerted efforts to fully adhere to safety and prevention measures in order to get out of this stage with the least losses, appealing to them to fully adhere to wearing the muzzle, physical distancing and hand disinfection to protect themselves and not infect others.
