The Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip announced, this evening, Sunday, that the Egyptian authorities informed it of the closure of the Rafah crossing, tomorrow, Monday, in both directions.
In a brief statement to its spokesman, Iyad al-Buzum, the ministry did not explain the reasons for the sudden closure.
The announcement was preceded by what was reported by Al-Arabiya TV that Egypt decided to close the Rafah crossing until further notice and to prevent the entry of goods, in protest against Hamas´ actions, which it did not explain.
While the Hebrew Reshet Kan channel reported that the Egyptian decision was taken after Hamas did not commit to preventing any escalation of events on the Gaza border.
