Five people were killed in a Taliban attack Saturday in the state of Wardak Square, central Afghanistan.

The Afghan authorities said in a statement that the attack was carried out by bombs, killing two policemen and three civilians.

According to the local channel "Ariana News," The attack also injured 12 people, Afghan security sources said. The same sources noted that the attack was specifically targeted at a "police station, and that the explosives were planted inside a car."

The vote for the parliamentary elections began Wednesday morning in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar after it was postponed last week for security reasons.

It is noteworthy that the elections in Kandahar were postponed following the killing of General Afif al-Raziq, director of the State Police, in an armed operation ahead of two days of elections held on October 20 and 21 October.

The final results of the Afghan parliamentary elections, except for Kandahar and Ghazni, are expected to be announced on December 20 December.

Fifteen people were killed in a suicide bombing at a polling station on the first day of the election in the capital Kabul, while the whole country saw 193 different attacks on the same day, with 36 killed, most of them civilians.
