Executive: Israel´s practices in Jerusalem drag the region into a religious war

Israel´s practices in Jerusalem threaten to drag the region into a "religious war," the PLO executive committee said on Thursday.

The committee warned, after a consultative meeting in Ramallah to discuss the latest developments in Jerusalem, against the continued "Israeli promotion of the imposition of temporal and spatial division in Al-Aqsa Mosque east of the Holy City."

The commission accused Israel of "carrying out a policy of ethnic cleansing, collective punishment and escalating crimes in an attempt to impose a policy of Judaization and the imposition of facts on the ground through the confiscation of land and demolition of houses and the approval of the construction of thousands of settlement units inside Jerusalem."

"This calls for intensifying all efforts and contacts with our brothers in the Arab and Islamic countries and with all the international community and international and human rights organizations, especially the United Nations, to reject these aggressive policies and the importance of providing international protection for our people," the committee said.

She called for "crystallizing an Arab position that supports the Palestinian position and the movement that is taking place at all levels to put an end to these ongoing crimes, which include targeting the steadfastness of our people in the holy city."

The PLO Executive Committee called on the international community and the United Nations to "intervene urgently to ensure international protection for the Palestinian people and hold the Israeli occupation authority accountable for its crimes."

The Executive Committee affirmed the follow-up of the decision of the Palestinian leadership to stop dealing with all agreements signed with the occupation, which does not abide by any of these agreements, and to accelerate the work of the emerging committee to follow up the immediate implementation Decisions of the Central and National Council.

The Executive Committee stressed the importance of continuing efforts to end the division and restore Palestinian national unity in the face of all dangers and challenges that hinder the Palestinian position, stressing the Egyptian role in following up and adhering to the implementation of the signed agreements, including the agreement signed on 12/10/2017, and the holding of general elections. A definite date, a resolution of all differences and an attempt to perpetuate the Palestinian division that Netanyahu spoke of, as a net interest of the occupation.

The Executive Committee reiterated its rejection of the American administration´s stances and statements that are trying to erase the historical and natural rights of the Palestinian people to establish our Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return of refugees. Our people in their struggle will not be wasted, but will remain a beacon for the continuation of our struggle and our struggle to end the occupation and reach our full and undiminished rights.

The Executive Committee affirmed that the Israeli government´s attempt to take advantage of the American administration´s position to try to pass the so-called deal of the century, to violate our firm historical rights to guarantee the right of return of refugees and the right of self-determination, and the establishment of a fully independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, will not succeed in trying to break the will of the people. He stands by his rights and is determined to continue his battle for his freedom and independence.

She stressed the importance of fairness and non-harm to the Palestinian people from the refugees in Lebanon, as the Palestinian refugee people are not expatriate workers, who are guests in brotherly Lebanon, until they return to their land and country based on the right of return of refugees according to UN Resolution 194, and their fairness and rejection. Unfair laws against our people, including the right to work and other rights.
