The secretary general of the PLO´s executive committee, Saeb Erekat, on Tuesday accused the current US administration of supporting Israel in its plan to threaten the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Erekat said the comments made by US ambassador to Israel David Friedman, in which he supported Israel´s right to annex parts of the West Bank, "pave the way for Israeli steps on the ground to undersine the two-state solution."
He added that these statements are "an update of what the administration of President Donald Trump began on the ground to implement the deal of the century to consider Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the US embassy and the legitimacy of settlements and the removal of the occupied status of the Palestinian territories and to drop the file of Palestinian refugees. "
Erekat described Friedman as the "ambassador of the settlers", saying that his positions on the possibility of annexing Israel part of the West Bank "a flagrant violation of international law and a war crime and pave the way to complete the so-called deal Century . "
Friedman said a few days ago that "Israel has the right to include parts of the West Bank territory, not all the land," blaming the stalemate in the peace process with Israel on the Palestinian Authority.
Friedman refused to explain the US response if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu carried out his previous commitments to annex parts of the occupied West Bank to Israeli sovereignty.
The US ambassador to Israel made the remarks ahead of a workshop called by the US administration in the Bahraini capital Manama two weeks later to discuss the economic aspects of the century deal to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In this regard, Erekat said that any projects to be discussed at the American workshop in Manama aimed at the prosperity of the Israeli settlements and not the Palestinians.
"Talking about a workshop in Manama to launch economic projects is water projects and roads that all start and end in the settlements. It means linking the settlements to the Palestinian life, a plan for the settlements to flourish," he said.
Erakat stressed the Palestinian adherence to the resolutions of international legitimacy on the need to end the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders and resolving the final status issues and reject dictations and settlements and impose facts on the ground.
He said that the Palestinian leadership continues its political movement with the EU, Africa, China, Russia, Japan, Canada, Latin American countries, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Islamic Cooperation Organization.
He added that "all these countries confirmed their categorical rejection of the Trump administration to impose dictates and decisions unjust and unjust and stressed that there is no solution but to end the Israeli occupation and facilitate the independence of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital and resolve the final status issues."
"We have confirmed that Palestine will not attend the American workshop in Manama and we ask all the countries of the world that have been called to boycott it because it aims to replace the principle of land for peace with the principle of prosperity for the settlers."
The Palestinian Authority has boycotted the US administration in terms of political contacts since President Donald Trump announced on December 6, 2017 recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the embassy to it on 14 May 2018.
Erekat condemned the Israeli army´s "aggression" against the headquarters of the Preventive Security Service in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, saying it was "an integral part of the Israeli government´s plan to destroy the Palestinian Authority."
