China´s Mituan Dianping online lifestyle platform has launched a voice-based service to help people with visual impairments order food online through speech recognition and voice interaction technologies.

Users can change the company´s application to speech recognition mode by saying some words.

The Mituan Dianping project is part of Chinese Internet companies´ efforts to make life easier for the visually impaired.

Technology companies such as Baidu and Byte Dance have improved their services or used their products to help the visually impaired.

Data from the China Association for the Blind showed that China has about 17 million people with visual impairment. A survey showed that at least 6 million of them use smartphones.
