The delegation of Palestine, participating in the Conference of the States Parties of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the Review Conference of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), has been able to thwart US attempts to question the membership Palestine in the organization.

Riyad al-Maliki added that the delegation of Palestine participated in the Conference, which concluded its work in The Hague over two weeks, for the first time as a State party and full membership of the organization.

The Palestinian delegation, rejecting the American attempt to add an item in the final report, doubted Palestine´s membership in the organization, which had been rejected by the delegation, supported by the position of the majority of Member States that had defended the right of Palestine to equal representation with other Member States.

Al-Maliki stressed the importance of Palestine´s participation in this organization, as it aims to disarm and disarm weapons of mass destruction as a full-fledged state alongside 192 member States. The delegation of Palestine would work to hold Israel accountable for using chemical weapons against the Palestinians.

He expressed the possibility of requesting the Organization to send experts to detect any banned chemicals in Palestine, based on the provisions of the United Nations Chemical Weapons Convention.
