Dozens of people demonstrated in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in front of the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), demanding the payment of financial compensation allocated to them after their homes were damaged in the Israeli aggression in 2014.
Protesters from the central and southern Gaza Strip arrived to protest in front of UNRWA headquarters in Gaza, demanding payment of financial compensation.
The demonstrators raised placards calling on the UNRWA administration to stop procrastinating and expedite the payment of compensation to them, asking about the fate of donor funds arriving for this file.
Salah al-Najjar, a spokesman for those affected, said that since the end of the Israeli aggression in 2014, they have not received any money from UNRWA after counting the damage in their homes, pointing out that there are a thousand houses in need of repair.
He pointed out that the population at the gates of winter and still for 5 years waiting for compensation for those damages, pointing out that a large number of those homes will be drowned in the winter because of their lack of compensation to repair the damage.
He pointed out that some residents were forced to borrow to repair the damage in their homes in the hope of UNRWA´s promises to pay them compensation, to be repaid, and became immersed in debt.
Al-Najjar called on the UNRWA administration and all those responsible for the damage file to take serious action to end their suffering.
