Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh chaired today, Wednesday, in his office in Ramallah, a meeting to discuss the project to provide gas to the Gaza Strip, in the presence of the representative of the European Union to Palestine, Sven Burgsdorf, and by video link, the head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, Ambassador Muhammad Al-Emadi.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of this project, with the support of the European Union and the State of Qatar, which aims to transport gas to the Gaza Strip from Israel with the aim of supplying it to the power generation station in the Strip, thus contributing to the provision of higher electrical capacity and regularity of the current in the Gaza Strip, and a radical solution to the electricity problem in Gaza. .
Shtayyeh valued the State of Qatar’s pledge, through Ambassador Al-Emadi, to provide an amount of $ 60 million to extend gas pipelines inside Israel, and the European Union through Ambassador Burgsdorf to provide an amount of 20 million Euros for extensions inside the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, they discussed plans to develop the power station in the Gaza Strip and convert it to work on gas, in addition to awaiting the final response from the Israeli side to this project
