Jerusalem Province Reports 3 Martyrs and 132 Detainees in Occupied Jerusalem During August

The Jerusalem province reported today, Sunday, that 3 citizens were martyred by Israeli occupation forces' gunfire, while 132 others were arrested in the occupied city of Jerusalem during the month of August.

According to the province's report, the occupation forces executed two Jerusalemites, one of them a child. Additionally, another Jerusalemite died as a result of injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire two years ago.

On August 1st, the young man Mohannad Mohammad Saleh Al-Mazaraa (20 years old) was martyred by Israeli occupation forces' gunfire near the town of Al-Eizariya, east of occupied Jerusalem, and his body was held by the occupation. On August 17th, the Jerusalemite youth Ahmed Abu Sineina (33 years old) from the town of Al-Issawiya died as a result of injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire during Ramadan 2021. Abu Sineina had been injured by a rubber-coated metal bullet that cost him his left eye and caused multiple skull fractures, following the Israeli incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the attack on worshipers with sound grenades and bullets on May 7, 2021.

On the evening of August 30th, the occupation forces executed the child Khalid Samer Al-Zaanin (14 years old) near the Lion's Gate in the occupied city of Jerusalem. Elements from the occupation police opened fire at the child Al-Zaanin, causing him severe injuries. He was left bleeding without receiving any medical assistance, leading to his martyrdom.

The occupation authorities are also holding the bodies of the martyrs Mohannad Al-Mazaraa and the child Khalid Al-Zaanin, bringing the total number of Jerusalemite martyrs' bodies held in the occupation's refrigerators and numbered graves to 25.

The Jerusalem province documented approximately 132 cases of detention of citizens in all areas of the province, including 10 children and 7 women among those arrested.

The occupation courts impose unfair decisions on detainees, ranging from actual imprisonment sentences to house arrest, in addition to hefty fines. Some detainees have also been issued travel bans by the occupation court. Furthermore, many detainees have had their detention extended for several months without clear charges against them.

The Jerusalem province also documented the demolition of 13 structures, including 5 structures forcibly self-demolished. Additionally, 5 excavations and land confiscations were carried out on properties owned by Jerusalemite citizens.

The occupation authorities handed out approximately 71 demolition notices, including 60 demolition warnings for industrial and commercial structures in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in the occupied city of Jerusalem. These notices were hung on the structures.

The Jerusalem province also documented 14 attacks by extremist settlers against Jerusalemites, including 8 physical assaults. During the month of August, the province recorded injuries resulting from the excessive use of force by occupation forces against Jerusalemites in various parts of the occupied capital.

Five injuries were also recorded as a result of live and rubber-coated metal bullets fired by occupation forces and brutal beatings.

Crimes against Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Jerusalem province documented the incursions of extremist settlers into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of August, with 3,891 settlers and 83,824 foreigners, labeled as tourists (through the Israeli Ministry of Tourism), entering the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque under strict protection from special occupation forces. Additionally, during the month of August, occupation forces prevented construction and restoration crews from completing their work at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Regarding settlement projects, the province stated in its report, 'The occupation authorities seek to impose a new reality on the occupied city of Jerusalem through dangerous settlement projects.' The province continued, 'The occupation authorities approved allocating 230 million shekels to complete what is known as the Eastern Ring Road, as part of transportation projects worth one billion shekels approved on August 20, 2023, with a total value of 3.2 billion shekels. The occupation municipality also intends to close the main vehicle parking lot in Jerusalem near Zahra Street under the pretext of establishing what is called the Cultural House.'

It also pointed out that joint teams from the occupation municipality and the so-called Nature Authority, which is affiliated with the occupation, hung banners in the eastern lands of the Al-Issawiya neighborhood about the "National Park" project planned to be established on the lands of the residents."
