2322 Administrative Detention Orders Issued Since the Beginning of the Current Year

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority revealed this Monday morning that the total number of administrative detention orders issued since the beginning of the current year, 2023, until the end of August, reached 2322 new or renewed orders.

The authority clarified that in the past August, Israeli military courts issued 362 administrative detention orders, comprising 230 new orders and 132 renewal orders, closely resembling the previous month, which saw a total of 370 administrative detention orders.

The authority also reported that the number of appeals filed by the authority against administrative detention orders, which were considered during August alone, reached 111 files. Israeli courts predominantly rejected these appeals without providing any genuine or convincing reasons for the rejection.

The authority stressed that the overall numbers and statistics above expose the Israeli judicial system, which continues to execute the instructions and orders of intelligence officers and the Shin Bet, in detaining Palestinian people without charging them or presenting them before the courts.

The authority called for genuine international action to halt this farce and put an end to the fascist Israeli occupation system. This system operates in accordance with the extremist Israeli Itamar Ben Gvir's instructions, backed by the various political and military components of the occupation state. All of these entities collectively seek to create a challenging life within prisons and detention centers, built on oppression, punishment, and deprivation.
