Occupation attacks participants in anti-settlement event south of Hebron

the Israeli occupation forces attacked, today, Friday, the participants in an anti-settlement activity in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, and prevented them from holding prayers on their lands threatened with appropriation.

The Coordinator of the National and Popular Committees for Resisting the Wall and Settlement, Ratib Jabour, said that this activity comes as a rejection of the settlement policy, annexation of lands in favor of expanding settlements, and confronting the plan of the occupation government, which approved the seizure of 3,600 dunums in the "Al-Tha`la" area, on whose lands the settlements of "Karmiel" and Ma´on, east of Yatta.

Jabour added that a settler attacked the citizens and the landowners, threatened them with shooting, and prevented them from approaching a "caravan" and "baraks" that he had established on the citizens´ lands.

The occupation forces also attacked the participants and journalists who were present at the scene to cover the event called for by the Fatah movement, with the participation of the National Action factions, and prevented them from holding Friday prayers on lands threatened by seizure and owned by the families of Abu Tabikh, Malash, Abu Subuha and Shanaran.

The landowners and the participants in the stand called on our people to confront the settlement policy and the seizure of land, raising slogans calling on the international community to assume responsibility and stop the crimes of the occupation and its settlers.
