The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Gebresus, announced Friday that Europe is now the epicenter of the new epidemic of Corona.
At a press conference in Geneva, Gebresos pointed out that about 5,000 people around the world have died so far as a result of contracting the Corona virus, while calling for benefiting from the experiences of China, South Korea and Japan in dealing with the epidemic. He also called on the Director-General of the World Health Organization, the countries of the world to adopt a comprehensive approach to combat the Corona virus, and to cooperate with each other to combat the spread of the epidemic. On the other hand, he recommended the elimination of gatherings, especially sports events, as part of efforts to limit the spread of the virus. The World Health Organization has allocated a fund to deal with the virus, saying it has started receiving contributions from the solidarity partners. She explained that the measures we recommend are aimed at helping the health system deal with the Corona virus, and added, "The isolation measures must be accompanied by other steps to combat the virus, including raising awareness." The Health Organization indicated that "the travel ban will not alone help in stopping the spread of Corona and must focus on other means."
