Warnings of the new surge of Corona

The General Director of Supportive Medical Services, a member of the Emergency Committee in the Ministry of Health, Osama Al-Najjar, warned of the possibility of citizens being infected with the new mutation of the Corona virus, especially after the discovery of a number of cases in Israel.

In an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio today, Thursday, Al-Najjar said, "There are no necessary materials in Palestine to examine and diagnose this mutation, and the ministry is communicating with international bodies, including the World Health Organization, to obtain the necessary materials to conduct tests on the new mutation."

Al-Najjar added that the ministry, since the first day in which Britain announced the discovery of infections with the new mutation of the Coronavirus, has been seeking to find a means by which to detect cases showing symptoms different from the Corona virus since the start of the pandemic due to the possibility that they could reach the West Bank.

On the current epidemiological situation, Al-Najjar explained that the indicators are still dangerous and indicate that “we are still in the midst of the pandemic, and the situation is getting worse,” believing that the number of injuries continues to rise, “which requires extreme caution and more strictness in the application of prevention and protection measures.”

Al-Najjar added, "Recording injuries less than before is not our standard in measuring the epidemiological situation, and it does not mean that there is a decrease, because it may be due to citizens not conducting tests, and what is required is to be wary of any decreases, which leads us to adhere to preventive measures."
