Today, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East Joey Hood stressed the importance of improving the lives of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip , in order to avoid the scenario of renewed military confrontations with Israel.
The statements of the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East came during a symposium entitled "The Ceasefire in Gaza... What Next?", which was organized by the Wilson Institute in Washington.
Hood added that the prospects for a two-state solution seem remote at the moment.
He continued, "A lot of work awaits us to preserve the truce in Gaza, and those who follow developments in the region see that the truce is fragile." according to his saying
Hood pointed out that improving the lives of Palestinians is a task that must be shared by allies in the region, including Egypt, Jordan and Qatar.
And the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East added: "We are working to deliver US and international aid to Gaza through trusted partners."
It is noteworthy that the World Bank, the United Nations and the European Union, said in a joint statement issued by them, today, Tuesday, that the Gaza Strip needs about 485 million dollars to achieve immediate and short-term recovery from the recent Israeli aggression, which lasted 11 days.
