UNRWA´s staff union confirmed that the administration had taken a decision to deduct about 50% of the salaries of the employees in the Union and the protesters in front of the administration building.
Amal Al-Batsh, deputy president of the Staff Union, said in a press statement that the Federation had ruled out such action by the UNRWA administration, especially since the protesters were conservative in their work during the sit-in.
She stressed that there must be a response to this decision as much as possible, citing actions that will be announced on Thursday with a deterrent.
As a result of that decision, the protesters had today closed the administration building and surrounded the staff.
Al-Batsh said the decision was a form of collective punishment and a policy of silencing mouths and not allowing the practice of union work either from members of the federation in defending the right of employees or protesters, expressing surprise that an international institution has taken such decisions.
