US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he would impose additional "substantive" sanctions on Iran on Monday.
Under the Obama plan, the Iranians were on their way to obtaining a nuclear weapon in a few years, and the existing verification period was unacceptable, "Trump said in a tweet through his Twitter account.
"We will imposes significant additional sanctions on Iran on Monday," he said.
"I look forward to the day when sanctions are lifted on Iran and it will become a productive and prosperous country once again."
According to Bloomberg news agency on Saturday, Trump said in a press statement that he intended to impede economic sanctions without specifying their nature.
