Amhara´s chief of staff and Ethiopian army chief of staff were killed in a failed coup attempt

Ethiopia´s President Ampashio Mikonin and another official were killed in a coup attempted in Ethiopia, Ethiopian Observer newspaper reported on Sunday.

Ethiopia´s Ethiopian army chief of staff, Siri Mikonin, along with another senior military official, Jizai Abira, also reported on Ethiopian television channel Dimcei Wian.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed had announced earlier that the chief of staff in the country, General Siri Mikonin, was attacked in a failed coup attempt.

Abe said in a televised address after midnight on Saturday that there had been deaths and injuries in an attempted coup d´etat in Bahr Dar, the capital of Amhara state, on the same day, the Ethiopian Ethiopian Observer newspaper reported, adding that the attack on Siri was linked to an attempt Coup in the northern state.

Abi Ahmed said Siri was attacked while trying to coordinate and lead the response to the coup attempt in Bahr Dar.

Abe said the individuals who carried out the attack were arrested.

There are multiple ethnic conflicts within Ethiopia, which have a large ethnic mix.
