US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he told his national security adviser John Bolton that his services were no longer needed at the White House.
Trump said in a tweet on Twitter that he disagreed strongly with many of Bolton´s suggestions, as others in his administration.
He continued: "I asked John to submit his resignation, which was given to me this morning .. I thank John very much for his service .. I will appoint a new national security adviser next week."
Bolton, in turn, contradicted what Trump said in his tweet, claiming: "I offered to resign last night, and President Trump told me: Let´s talk about it tomorrow."
Bloomberg said the sacking was due to a dispute over negotiations with the Taliban.
Later, White House spokesman Hogan Gedley said on Tuesday that Charlie Cooperman had been appointed acting national security adviser to replace John Bolton, who was sacked by Trump earlier in the day.
