The space shuttle "Space X Dragon" broke off on Monday from the International Space Station and began a return to Earth flight, the US space agency NASA said.
In a tweet on the social networking site Twitter, NASA said the spacecraft, loaded with rubbish and scientific experiments, had successfully separated from the orbital space station shortly after 12 pm.
NASA astronaut David San Jack of the Canadian Space Agency (NASA) monitored the Dragon´s systems while leaving the microgravity lab, NASA said.
San Jack and Christina Koch are members of the crew of three US, Canadian and Russian astronauts at the International Space Station, which is more than 400 kilometers above Earth.
The vehicle had to travel to a safe distance from the International Space Station before departing at around 4:55 pm (2056 GMT) to leave orbit.
The vehicle is supposed to land in the Pacific Ocean after about an hour.
The Dragon had transported about 2,500 kilograms of supplies and equipment to the ISS in early May.
