The occupation reduces Gaza´s fishing space under the pretext of launching a missile on "Ashdod"

The Israeli occupation Army (IDF) on Tuesday morning decided to reduce the fishing space to six nautical miles, on the pretext of firing a rocket from Gaza last night towards the city of Ashdod.

The army spokesman claimed that the rocket that landed off the coast of Ashdod was certainly launched. They accused the Islamic Jihad movement of standing behind the firing of rockets to sabotage the calm understandings, on the orders of Ziad al-Bran, secretary general of the Movement.

Nizar Ayash, the leader of Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip, denied earlier that the fishing space had been reduced to six miles, after it had recently been expanded to about 15 miles.

"We were not informed of the reduction of the fishing space to any distance," Ayash said, adding that it was still 6 to 15 miles in the coastal areas, and the occupation was treated with security.

He pointed out that despite the expansion of the area of fishing, the occupying forces are still firing on a daily basis towards the fishermen in clear violation of all agreements reached.

The military occupation boats opened fire at dawn and on Tuesday morning, towards the fishermen´s boats off the coast of the Gaza Strip. According to a reporter, "Al-Quds", the boats targeted the poachers off the coast of the Sudanese and Oasis areas northwest of the Gaza Strip, where the fishermen were pursued within 3 nautical miles.
