The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies monitored today, Wednesday, 715 administrative decisions issued by the occupation courts during the first half of 2021.
The center said that, since the beginning of this year, the occupation authorities have escalated the issuance of administrative orders against Palestinian prisoners, especially in the last two months.
According to the center, the number of administrative orders issued during the first half of this year is 30 percent higher than the decisions issued at the same time last year, which witnessed (557) administrative decisions.
PCHR indicated that the occupation has resorted to intensifying the issuance of administrative detention orders through moot courts, intelligence or direct instructions from the Minister of Occupation Security, in a wide and noticeable manner as a policy of collective punishment of the Palestinians and deterring them from solidarity with the residents of Jerusalem who are threatened with displacement, as well as in protest against the barbaric aggression that was exposed His Gaza Strip at the end of Ramadan.
He indicated that the administrative orders affected all segments of the prisoners, including women and children, but focused in particular on national and Islamic leaders, activists, opinion leaders and journalists, as the occupation claims that they incite the incitement of the Palestinian street to confront the aggressive policies of the occupation and its crimes, as it is an arbitrary arrest that does not require investigations. and indictments.
According to the Center, (423) of the total decisions taken were to renew administrative detention for additional periods ranging from two to six months, and reached (5) times for some prisoners, while (292) administrative decisions were issued against my family for the first time. Most of them are freed prisoners who have been re-arrested.
The number of administrative prisoners has recently reached more than (520), most of whom are liberated prisoners who spent different periods in prisons and were re-arrested again, and most of them were renewed for other periods, including (8) members of the Legislative Council, (two female prisoners) and ( 3) minors.
The Center pointed out that the policy of administrative detention expanded during the current year, affecting for the first time prisoners from the Palestinian interior, where the Minister of Occupation Security signed administrative detention orders for a period of 4 months against three young men from the 48 lands, namely Dhafer Fathi Jabarin from Umm al-Fahm, and Eid Abdul Latif Hassouna from Lod, and Baraa Abu Shakra from Nazareth.
The occupation forces escalated the transfer of Jerusalemite prisoners to administrative detention, as the administrative decisions against Jerusalemites during the first half of the year reached more than 41 decisions, ranging between 3-6 months, by a direct decision of the Minister of the Occupation Army, and this number is considered large compared to previous periods.
The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies warned of an upcoming explosion in the occupation prisons and an expanded escalation against the policy of administrative detention against prisoners, as administrators are studying the implementation of a major struggle program to bring this issue to the fore again and put pressure on the occupation to stop this aggressive policy.
And 150 of the administrators in Ofer prison had returned meals yesterday, Tuesday, as a first step that will be followed by wide steps during the coming period, and in the same context, a group of prisoners in Raymond prison will start a hunger strike in rejection of the occupation policy to extend their administrative detention.
The center said that the detention policy is a tool of collective punishment against the Palestinian people, aimed at draining the lives of Palestinians behind bars without legal basis, other than the security considerations on which the intelligence service officers rely, who manages this file, and dictates instructions to the moot courts to issue administrative orders based on Secret files that no one is allowed to see.
He called on the international community and its legal institutions that set the prohibitions and conditions when using this type of detention to genuinely intervene and put pressure on the occupation to stop the arbitrary administrative detention of Palestinians. It also called on all Palestinians to support the steps of the administrative prisoners to confront this arbitrary policy that drains their lives without charge.
