According to a document by the Center for Human Rights, on Monday, that the Israeli occupation authorities are holding the bodies of 15 martyrs of the population of the Gaza Strip.
The Center said that all the martyrs whose bodies were detained have been detained since the beginning of the marches of return and breaking the siege on March 30, 2018, pointing out that the occupation handed over the body of the martyr Imad Shahin from Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, to his family last Wednesday, after a request from the centers Human rights.
Al Mezan, Physicians for Human Rights and HaMoked expressed their strong condemnation of the policy of detaining the inhuman bodies of martyrs, stressing in a joint statement that the policy of detaining the bodies violates the basic rights of the deceased and his family, and causes additional suffering for his family in a form of collective punishment prohibited by international law.
It called on the international community to intervene urgently and effectively to stop the Israeli violations and pressure the occupation authorities to release the remaining bodies and enable their families to take a final look at them and bury them in a manner appropriate to their religious and cultural beliefs.
On January 1, 2017, the Israeli cabinet decided to prevent the extradition and detention of the bodies of Palestinian martyrs, despite the Israeli Supreme Court´s decision on December 15, 2017, that this procedure is illegal. Once again represented by the extended body of seven judges to issue a decision on the existence of the authority of the military commander in accordance with the defense regulations, in particular paragraph (3) of Article (133) for the year 1945 to detain the bodies.
