Today, Saturday, the Israeli occupation authorities forced the "Al-Dalal" family to self-demolish three of their homes, in the Ashqariya neighborhood of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem.
The family said that the three houses are inhabited by 13 people, most of them children, and that one of them was built about 22 years ago, adding that over these long years, she appointed a lawyer to defend her against demolition, and paid heavy fines in an attempt to license the buildings, but the occupation authorities refused and imposed impossible conditions. .
The occupation municipality targets thousands of Palestinian families in all villages and towns in occupied Jerusalem, and seeks to displace their members by handing them demolition orders under the pretext of building without permits.
Although the residents of Jerusalem seek to obtain the required building permits, the Israeli municipality does not allow this, especially in areas close to the city center.
According to a report published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Palestine (OCHA), last July, the Israeli occupation forces have demolished 474 Palestinian buildings, including 150 donor-financed buildings, or confiscated them or forced their owners to demolish them since the beginning of this year. As a result, 656 people, including 359 children, were displaced throughout the occupied West Bank.
