Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant decided, on Monday evening, to stop the export of goods from the Gaza Strip to “Israel,” including areas of the West Bank.
The decision was taken after an evaluation session held in the wake of Israeli security allegations that thwarted the smuggling of explosive materials from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank.
According to an official Israeli statement, explosive materials consisting of several kilograms of materials described as high quality were discovered, and were smuggled through the lining of some clothes in a clothing shipment consisting of 3 trucks.
The statement claimed. Those explosives were on their way to what they described as "terrorist elements," indicating that an investigation had been opened into the incident.
He pointed out that the return to normal work for exports will be subject to an evaluation of the situation.
Later, the Presidential Committee for Coordination of Goods confirmed that the Israeli side informed it of the Israeli government’s decision to stop exports of all kinds from Gaza via Kerem Shalom, starting tomorrow, Tuesday 09/05/2023, until further notice.
