The Israeli occupation arrested 357 Palestinians since the beginning of the spread of the Coruna virus

A total of 357 Palestinians, including 48 children and four women, have been arrested by the Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of the spread of the Corona virus early last month, according to a report released Thursday.

The report, which monitors the conditions of prisoners, stated that since the beginning of this year, Israel has arrested more than 1,300 Palestinians, including 210 children and 31 women, while issuing 295 administrative detention orders.

The report was issued by the Prisoners and Editors Affairs Authority in the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Prisoners Club, the Al-Dameer Association for Prisoner Care and Human Rights, and the Center for Defense of Freedoms and Civil Rights (Hurriyat).

According to the report, Israel currently arrests about 5 thousand Palestinians, including 41 women, 180 children and minors, while 51 prisoners have spent more than 20 years in detention, and 222 others have died in prisons since 1967, including five last year.

He added that among the detained prisoners, 430 are prisoners of administrative detention (without specific charges) and 13 journalists, and about 700 patients, including nearly 300 chronic patients in need of continuous treatment.

The report called for international pressure on Israel to release the prisoners, especially the sick, the elderly, female prisoners, children and administrators, as an urgent necessity to save their lives in light of the threat of the spread of the Corona virus.

He also called for sending an international medical committee to supervise the health conditions of prisoners and women prisoners inside prisons, to protect them from the spread of the virus and provide them with protection and safety requirements.
