The International Committee of the Red Cross warns the Middle East of "catastrophic repercussions" because of the Corona pandemic

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned the Middle East of "catastrophic repercussions" due to the outbreak of the Corona Corvid-19 virus.

The committee singled out Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, as "the humanitarian needs will be exacerbated if the economic consequences of those countries are not taken into account," according to the regional director for the Near and Middle East. According to ICRC statistics, 40 million people in Yemen and Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance, and most of the countries mentioned are suffering from a shortage of electricity and water.
