The Palestinian government signed, today, Thursday, three support agreements with the European Union and Norway, amounting to nearly $ 20 million.

The agreements were signed in the presence and patronage of Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh in his office in Ramallah, in the central West Bank, according to a statement issued by him.

According to the statement, the first agreement was signed on the Palestinian side by the Minister of Local Government, Majdi Al-Saleh, and on behalf of the European Union, its representative to Palestine, Cohen Ships, with a value of 10 million euros, for the benefit of infrastructure projects in the Gaza Strip.

As for the second agreement presented by Norway, it was signed on the Palestinian side by the Minister of Health, Mai Al-Kailah, and on the Norwegian side, her representative to Palestine, Torn Fest, with a value of $ 1.3 million to strengthen the role of the Ministry of Health.

The third agreement, presented by Norway, was also signed, worth $ 6.3 million, to promote, protect and develop early childhood health, and respond to the Coronavirus disease in Palestine.

According to the statement, Shtayyeh said, "The signing of the agreements makes us complete the amount of 610 million dollars of the sums with which agreements were signed in the year 2020," expressing his thanks to the international community for its stance with Palestine.

"We are working every effort in infrastructure projects in the Gaza Strip, whether it is in the sanitation sector, water, electricity or road networks," he added.

Shtayyeh indicated that the problem in Gaza "is not in the infrastructure, but in the imposed Israeli blockade, and the high unemployment and poverty rates."
