European Foreign Minister Josip Borrell and his US counterpart Mike Pompeo discussed "the urgent need to strengthen international cooperation" in the context of combating the emerging Corona epidemic, according to a statement issued by the European Union on Saturday.
Spain´s Borrell and Pompeo also agreed that a rapid increase in humanitarian aid should be made available for medical purposes, to be provided to the most vulnerable countries.
The statement stated that "the European Union and the United States are able to contribute significantly to the international efforts to confront the epidemic."
Borrell also noted "the need to make the right and transparent information available to (public opinion) at a time of heightened concern due to misinformation about Corona emerging."
