The National Institute of Genetics and History has announced the discovery of archeologists in central Mexico, the first temple of the god Sipi Totek, the goddess of fertility and the god of fertility worshiped by the Aztecs, Which existed before the Spanish invasion.
The diggers found the remains on two altars, two statues of two skulls, and a human trunk of stone, inside a pyramid-shaped vault in the Nedchian Tihuacan archaeological area in the Mexican state of Puebla.
Scientists believe that the trunk, which was covered with human skin, was sacrificed to the gods, representing the god Sipi Totek. The Aztec people worshiped this god as a source of growth and fertility.
Archaeologist Nouemou Castillo said the temple building, which was used between 1000 and 1260 AD, features sites of sacrificial offerings and offerings described by documentary sources.
Prisoners were killed at the first altar in the midst of wrestling matches or darts. Their skins were then taken off at the second altar. The temple priests wore the skins of the victims as clothing during the ritual of worship.
Evidence has been found of the existence of this religious doctrine in the past in other civilizations, but the discovery in the state of Puebla represents the first full temple to be found.
