A total of 41 rare browski horses were born in the Zhongar Basin in Xinjiang, which is the main habitat of the breed in China, during the first half of this year.
29 of the dowries mentioned in the wild were born in the Kalamaili Nature Reserve, while six were born in captivity and another six were in semi-captivity, said Ma Xinping, director of the Wild Horse Breeding Research Center.
The pre-skilled horse is the only surviving horse breed that has never been domesticated. She has lived through history in the grassland that is part of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China and Mongolia.
Subspecies in the basin have disappeared due to overfishing and environmental problems. Since the 1980s, the Chinese government has embarked on a breeding program using horses brought from Britain and Germany to resettle subspecies.
The number of rare horses in Xinjiang has risen to 479 so far, including 96 in captivity. There are about 2000 perzual horses around the world.
