Daughter of Nelson Mandela, South African Ambassador to Denmark, dies

Zindzi Mandela, 59, daughter of the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, died in a hospital in Johannesburg.

On Monday, Mandela Mandela confirmed to German News Agency (dpa) the death of her grandmother.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation reported that Nelson Mandela´s younger daughter, from his second wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, died yesterday evening in a hospital in Johannesburg.

No information on the cause of death was available, but a statement from the family is expected at a later time.

Mandela was her country´s ambassador to Denmark at the time of her death.

A spokesman for the ruling African National Congress, led by Nelson Mandela, who won the country´s first democratic elections in 1994, expressed his condolences on the radio.
