British Prime Minister Theresa May will visit Germany and France on Tuesday to try to persuade Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Emmanuel Macaron to delay the April 12 deadline.
"There are good reasons for the debate, while Britain and the European Union, with its 27 members, are facing a difficult and difficult situation," said German Foreign Ministry spokesman Steffen Saibert in announcing the visit.
"The 27 countries must remain united when the decision is made and when they agree or disagree with the prime minister´s proposal for a new postponement," he said.
Shortly afterwards, the French presidency said Emmanuel Macaron would meet May at 18:00 (1600 GMT) on Tuesday.
Germany is taking a more soft line with France over Britain, whose prime minister is seeking a compromise with the opposition over BRICEST four days before its entry into force.
Brakst was scheduled for 29 March and was postponed until 12 April. May asked EU leaders to postpone a new deadline until June 30, with the possibility of withdrawing earlier if agreement was reached.
An extraordinary European Council dedicated to BRICCAST will hold a session on Wednesday to study this request, which should be unanimously approved by the 27 other EU members before it is implemented.
