Support for Journalists: The number of journalists detained in Israeli prisons has risen to 21

The Journalists´ Support Committee confirmed that the number of detainees in the prisons of the Israeli occupation has risen to 21, including 3 female media professionals, after the arrest of the Jerusalemite journalist Lama Ghosheh today, Sunday, after storming her house in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem. They thoroughly searched it and confiscated her computer, before arresting her, in front of her two children (5-3 years old). He transferred her to the occupation police station in Al-Maskobiya, west of occupied Jerusalem, and she was interrogated in “Groups 4”.

The committee indicated that the occupation still determines in its prisons (9) prison sentences, and actual sentences have been issued against them, they are: (Writer Walid Daqqa (life) - Mahmoud Issa 3 life sentences - Ahmed Al-Saifi 17 years old - Munther Khalaf Mufleh 30 years old - Basem Al-Khandaqji 3 life sentences - Haitham Jaber 28 years old - Writer and poet Kamil Abu Hanish, life imprisonment 9 times - Yazan Abu Salah 4 years, Ramez Sadaqah 10 months).

While the occupation arrests (7) administrative arrests without charge, they are (Mohammed Nimr Asida four months for the fourth time, the arrest confirmation date is 8/11, Bushra Al-Taweel 3 months for the second time, Omar Abu Al-Rub 6 months, Raja´i Tariq Hamad, Faisal Al-Rifai six months - Amer Abu Arafa 4 months, Nidal Abu Aker 6 months).

The number of arrested rises to (5), who are subject to continuous investigations amid torture and humiliation without passing judgments. They are: (media student Qassam al-Barghouti, Ibrahim Abu Safiya- Mahmoud Abu al-Hassan, media student Dina Jaradat, and Lama Abu Ghosh).

The committee pointed out that the occupation insists on silencing tasks and obstructions from performing their professional duties, in violation of international and human rights covenants that guarantee freedom of journalistic work and provide for the protection of crimes during armed conflicts, a systematic and intentional policy .

She that in the occupation prisons explained, are subjected to repression of freedoms and psychological and moral abuse, which are serious violations of international law.

The revealed committee that women are being tried under the Administrative Detention Law, and their detention has been extended once or several times without charge or trial.

She stressed that the occupation prisons administration practices a policy of deliberate medical negligence on sick prisoners, including forbids family visits to them, as well as preventing them from wearing clothes, blankets, and others.

The Committee to Support Journalists called on the relevant authorities to implement the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2222 to curb the racist and terrorist practices practiced by the "Israeli" occupation, the escalating incitement and ready-made charges against Palestinians, institutions and media freedoms and to stop them completely.

She appealed to the international community to ensure protection for Palestinians and to strengthen solidarity with them, and to urgently release in occupation prisons.
