Shaath calls on Europe to recognize the right of the Palestinians to their independent state and to face the Bundestag´s decision on "BDS"

The president´s adviser on international relations, Nabil Shaath, has warned against the boycott of the BDS campaign by the Bundestag.

"The decision is an encouragement to the right-wing government in Israel to continue violating international law, destroying the rest of the peace process and continuing to imposes a racist solution to the Palestinian issue along the lines of the apartheid regime in South Africa, he said. Gives the right to self-determination only to Jews.

Shaath said during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Neils Enin that Germany should face serious violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and implement resolutions and sanctions on Israeli settlement goods.

He called on the governments of Europe, its parties and peoples to work to break the apartheid option by recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.

Shaath considered that the European positions are still below the required level in terms of forming pressure on Israel and that it is still in the orbit of verbal and theoretical positions, calling on Europe to intervene vigorously and practically to reduce the monopoly of the management of Trump in the self-determination of the region and the world.

Shaath briefed the guest minister on President Trump´s plan, known as the "Deal of the Century", aimed at settling the Palestinian issue and ending the two-state solution, in favor of the Israeli occupation state, referring to the practical steps taken by the US administration on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the occupying state, To support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), recognition of the annexation of the occupied Syrian Golan and opportunities for a similar step in the West Bank by annexing it to Israel.

He stressed that US policy supporting the occupation government and turning a blind eye to Israeli settlement policies increases the chances of the situation in the region and destroys any hope of a peaceful solution to the conflict.

For his part, the German minister said that his government is committed to the two countries´ solution to the two-state solution, which is based on international legitimacy and signed agreements, to ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed that Germany would not change its position in favor of the rights of the Palestinian people and its desire to achieve a just peace in the region, noting that the Bundestag´s decision on the boycott movement is not binding on the German government.
