The names of Russian pop star Oksimiron and writer Dmitry Glukhovsky have been included in the list of "foreign agents" published by the Ministry of Justice, which includes classified personalities as such by the Russian authorities.
Miron Fyodorov, 37, whose stage name is Oksimiron, had confirmed in a video clip published in late February that he was "against Russia´s war on Ukraine", describing it as a "disaster and crime."
He wrote on social media, "No to war."
Oksimiron´s account, which is very popular among Russian youth, has 2.1 million followers on Instagram.
In addition to Oksimiron, writer Dmitry Glukhovsky, 43, who faces up to 10 years in prison for criticizing the Russian military following its attack on Ukraine, is on the list.
The author of the book "Metro 2033", which sold many copies, had previously called on the Russian authorities to end the war after the first attacks on Ukraine.
In early June, the Russian Interior Ministry included the writer´s name, who may be outside Russia, on its wanted list.
Alyona Popova, a Russian human rights activist known for her online campaign against domestic violence in Russia, also appeared on the list published as a "foreign agent".
Since the start of the Ukrainian war, Russia has launched an early campaign of repression, as the authorities introduced a law providing for imprisonment for up to 15 years in the event of publishing any information about the military that the authorities consider misleading.
The new wave of repression of cultural figures comes hours after the Russian NGO Memorial, banned in Russia since 2021, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
