Renault Samsung Motors, the South Korean unit of the Renault Group, announced recently that it will start exporting the SUV "XM3" to Europe next year.
The "Renault Samsung" company produces the "XM3" at its only factory in Busan, 450 kilometers south of the capital Seoul, and will be sold as "Arcana New" in the European market, the company said in a statement reported by the South Korean "Yonhap" news agency .
The company said that the "XM3" car equipped with a gasoline-powered hybrid engine or a 1.3-liter turbo engine with direct injection of gasoline will be shipped to Europe.
The company expects that the planned exports of the "XM3" will help improve sales amid the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Sales of Renault Samsung in the period from January to August decreased by 27% to 84,158 units from 114,705 units in the same period last year due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic on the auto industry.
The company was desperate to secure the export volume of the XM3 in order to compensate for the now-discontinued production of the Nissan Rogue SUV at the Busan plant.
The Renault Group owns an 81% stake in Renault Samsung.
