Hundreds of Israelis Saturday evening staged a racist march against Arabs in the city of Haifa after disagreements over the city´s mayor´s agreement with the Democratic Front for peace and Arab equality within the Green Line.
The demonstrators called on the mayor to cancel the agreement signed with the LTTE to appoint a deputy mayor from the front, describing the front as the "organization with terrorist elements."
The mayor of Haifa, Kalish Rutim, has decided to appoint Raja Zaatreh as its deputy, but Israeli parties, primarily the Likud party, rejected the decision, especially after statements by Zaatreh supported Hamas and Hezbollah.
The mayor and the LTTE agreed to appoint a replacement for Zaatrah, where Shahira Shalabi was chosen for the position.
