"Journalists´ Support Committee": Last May witnessed the highest percentage of Israeli violations against the media

In its monthly report, the Committee to Support Journalists revealed that last May witnessed the highest percentage of Israeli violations of media freedoms since the beginning of this year, after the occupation targeted journalists in the occupied Palestinian territories, with violations reaching 255 cases.

 

The committee said in a statement today, Tuesday, that it had documented 101 violations against journalists during the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of journalist Youssef Abu Hussein (33 years), as a result of the destruction of his house in the "Sheikh Radwan" neighborhood north of Gaza City, in addition to the injury of 13 As a result of being directly injured, or during the destruction of their homes, or being hit by shrapnel from missiles while carrying out their work covering the brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The committee also monitored the destruction of 59 media institutions, media and artistic production companies, printing houses and publishing houses, in addition to the destruction of 23 homes of male and female journalists, and more than 5 journalists’ vehicles were damaged.

In Jerusalem, the West Bank and the occupied interior, the Journalists Support Committee monitored 154 violations, including the injury of more than 70 journalists as a result of the Israeli forces firing live and rubber bullets at them, in addition to firing sound and gas bombs, and assaulting them, and dragging a number of journalists, including female journalists, and spraying dozens of them with water. Al-Afma, to prevent them from covering, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

The report recorded the arrest, detention and summoning of more than 16 male and female journalists and writers from Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the extension of administrative detention and sentencing of 10 journalists.

The report also monitored 4 cases of breaking into the homes of journalists and writers and tampering with the contents of the homes during the inspection, in addition to the registration of 42 cases of prevention from coverage and professional work of journalists and incitement to dismiss a journalist from his work, in an attempt by the occupation to obliterate the crimes it is committing against citizens, in addition to documenting (8 ) Car crash cases, equipment, cameras and phones.

With regard to the harassment and torture of detained journalists and what they are subjected to in the occupation prisons, the report documented 4 cases, during which they were threatened, insulted and insulted, and their lawyers were prevented from meeting them, the occupation rejected an appeal ruling, and refused to release a number of them, especially that they were detained without charges, and with the aim of continuing the investigations Cruel and humiliating for journalists detained in occupation prisons.

The Israeli occupation forces, in coordination with the Department of Social Media, have blocked hundreds of accounts of journalists and media institutions that reveal and document the occupation’s aggression against citizens in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip, where 93 violations were monitored, in the context of combating Palestinian content and denying the narrative. National.

Twitter closed more than 56 journalists´ accounts, while Facebook deleted, restricted and disabled dozens of accounts of journalists and media professionals, as 15 journalists´ accounts were monitored, while the "Tik Tok" application deleted one account, Instagram one account, and WhatsApp 13 1 account and "YouTube" 3 accounts.

Suspicious parties also launched 6 cases of electronic attack on news sites and radio stations, including three attacks on the Al-Rai website, the Shams News website, and the interference of the broadcast of Voice of Al-Aqsa Radio, and the impersonation of suspicious parties on the "Mayadeen" channel and sending inflammatory messages through it.
