Facebook announced on Thursday a permanent ban on accounts of a number of extreme right-wing figures and their organizations on social networking platforms.
Pressure has mounted on Facebook to apply its hate speech policies more vigorously amid growing anti-Semitism and an increase in the number of extreme right-wing media figures.
Among the people of Facebook and Instagram are Alex Jones, the owner of Info Wars, the leader of the Nation of Islam movement, Farrakhan, and the right-wing author and commentator Milo Janopoulos.
Jones and InfoWarz were banned from applying Facebook in August, but remained on the InStagram application, owned by Facebook.
A spokeswoman for Facebook said in a statement that these individuals and groups were banned under the company´s policies against "dangerous individuals and organizations".
The representation of these individuals and organizations in any form would be removed.
"We always prohibit individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence or hatred, regardless of ideology," she said.
