Protests in Lebanon over the scarcity of fuel and the deteriorating living conditions

Today, Monday, a number of Lebanese closed roads in a number of areas in Mount Lebanon and in the north, in protest against the scarcity of fuel and the deteriorating living conditions.
A number of protesters blocked the Jounieh Highway (in Mount Lebanon) with obstacles, in protest against the shortage of gasoline and the deteriorating living situation. A number of protesters also cut off the Jiyeh highway in Mount Lebanon and the Zouk Mosbeh highway after they closed it in the morning with cars and obstacles in protest against the loss of gasoline and the deteriorating living situation, before the army reopened it.
In the locality of Jabal Al Beddawi in northern Lebanon, citizens blocked the road in front of a gas station and placed cars and waste containers in the middle of the road, in protest against the station´s closure, and their inability to secure gasoline and diesel fuel for their cars and electric generators.
Other protesters blocked the Tripoli-Beirut highway (Northern Lebanon) to protest the lack of fuel and the difficult living and economic conditions. In the Chekka area to the north, the protesters closed the highway.
The Lebanese are facing the worst financial and economic crisis in the modern history of Lebanon, and with it the ability of the Banque du Liban to meet subsidies for medicines, basic materials and fuels has declined, which has led to a decrease in their stocks, and the unavailability of fuels in most gas stations, a large part of which closed.
