The Palestinian Prisoner Society warned on Thursday of a serious deterioration in the health of a prisoner who has been on hunger strike for 66 days.
"Prisoner Hasan al-Aweiwi, who has been on hunger strike for 66 days, was transferred to Barzlai hospital after a serious deterioration in his health," the prisoner´s club said in a press release.
The statement pointed out that Al-Aweiwi from the West Bank town of Hebron and has three children, a racket since April 2 last rejected his administrative detention.
According to the statement, the strike of al-Awawi "met with intransigence and refusal by the Israeli occupation authorities to respond to his demand to end his administrative detention."
The Palestinian Prisoner has already held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for the life of Al-Aweiwi, demanding the intervention of international human rights institutions to stop his suffering and save his life before it is too late.
According to the Prisoner´s Club, Israel currently holds about 5,700 prisoners and prisoners in its prisons, including about 500 on administrative detention, which allows for open detention without charge.
