Presidency: Netanyahu´s decision to build thousands of settlement units "systematic destruction of the two-state solution"

The Palestinian Presidency condemned, later today, Thursday, the decision of the Prime Minister of Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to build thousands of settlement units in the city of Jerusalem and build settlement roads in the West Bank.

The presidential spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeina, said that Netanyahu´s decision was "a systematic destruction of the two-state solution."

Abu Rudeineh said that the decision aims to "implement the deal of the century that violates all resolutions of international legitimacy and international law, which considers all Israeli settlement illegal in all Palestinian lands."

He added, "Netanyahu´s attempt to win the votes of the Israeli right on the eve of the Israeli elections at the expense of Palestinian rights will not bring peace and stability to anyone, and will lead the region to more tension and violence, and no one can expect its results."

Abu Rudeina warned that the implementation of the settlement plan aims to completely separate the city of Jerusalem from the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank, "which means destroying any opportunity to establish a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy resolutions."

He added that this "requires urgent intervention from the international community to stop the Israeli madness, which seeks to impose a fait accompli policy, which we will never accept, and we will confront it by all means."

And Netanyahu announced earlier today, Thursday, the construction of 2,200 settlement units in Jabal Abu Ghneim, on top of which is the Har Homa settlement.

He also announced the approval of plans to build four thousand units in the settlement of "Givat Hamtus" south of Jerusalem: one thousand of them for the Palestinians and three thousand for the Jews.
