Presidency: Bennett´s statements about Al-Aqsa Mosque are pushing towards a dangerous religious conflict

The Palestinian Presidency expressed its condemnation and categorical rejection of the statements issued by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, in which he said: “The freedom of worship of Jews and Muslims must be preserved in Al-Aqsa Mosque.” Bennett is an escalation that is pushing towards a dangerous religious conflict.”

The presidency stressed, in a statement, this evening, Sunday, that this escalation bears the responsibility of the Israeli government, as it puts obstacles in the way of international efforts, especially since this provocation is taking place on the eve of the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

The Palestinian presidency called for preserving the historical situation in the Al-Haram Al-Sharif, considering that these statements “constitute a challenge to the international community, including the official US position that we were informed of calling for the preservation of the historical situation in the Al-Haram Al-Sharif.”

The statement indicated that the Palestinian leadership is taking all required and necessary measures to preserve the inalienable historical rights in Jerusalem and the Islamic and Christian sanctities.
