The United States is certain that Saturday´s attack on Saudi oil facilities was carried out from Iranian territory and was used in passing missiles, a US official told AFP on Tuesday.
The official, who asked not to be named, said the administration is working on a file to prove its information and persuade the international community, especially Europeans, during the work of the United Nations General Assembly next week in New York.
Asked if Washington was certain the missiles were fired from Iranian territory, the official replied: "Yes."
The official confirmed that the US intelligence services have the ability to determine where the rockets were fired, but declined to say how many rockets were fired.
"I won´t go into such details," he said.
Pompeo will travel to Saudi Arabia today to discuss the response to the attacks
US Vice President Mike Pence said Tuesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss the response to the attacks on two Aramco oil facilities.
Pence stressed that the US military "is ready", to respond to the attacks, noting that US intelligence "is now working to review all evidence related to the Aramco attacks," according to the network, "Sky News Arabia."
This comes after a report published by the network "CNN" America, about new details about the terrorist attack, noting that the source of the attack was an Iranian base close to Iraq.
The network quoted a source in the investigation as saying that the missiles were fired over Iraq, and turned over Kuwait to the oil facilities, to hide the source of the launch.
The source added that some missiles failed to hit their targets and landed in the desert before reaching their destination, and said that "there is no indication at all that these missiles came from southern Saudi Arabia, especially Yemen."
The Houthi militias claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted Aramco by drones, but the Arab Coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen confirmed that the preliminary results of investigations into the attack indicate that it was not carried out from Yemeni territory.
